Candidates should note that OBC-NCL benefits are based on the Central List of Other Backward Classes. Candidates belonging to a state OBC list but not included in the Central OBC-NCL list must select the General/Unreserved category, as instructed in the bulletin.

B. Final-year postgraduate students

Candidates qualifying under the Ph.D.-admission-only category must complete their master's degree within one year from the date of the NET result, subject to the required marks and applicable rules.
C. Candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree
The December 2026 bulletin also permits candidates with a four-year/eight-semester bachelor's degree to appear for UGC NET, subject to the specified requirements.

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
The maximum age limit is 30 years as of 1 December 2026.
