The Department of Posts has invited online applications for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks across various circles.

1. Important Dates (Schedule)

• One-Time Registration: January 31, 2026, to February 14, 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).

• Online Application & Fee Payment: February 2, 2026, to February 16, 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).

• Edit/Correction Window: February 18, 2026, to February 19, 2026.

2. Emoluments (Monthly Salary)

The GDS are paid a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA):

• Branch Postmaster (BPM): Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 29,380.

• ABPM / Dak Sevak: Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470.

3. Eligibility Criteria

• Age Limit: Between 18 to 40 years as of the last date of application.

  • Relaxations: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10–15 years for PwBD.

• Educational Qualification: Must have passed 10th standard (SSC) with passing marks in Mathematics and English.

• Local Language: The applicant must have studied the local language of the applied circle at least up to the 10th standard.

• Other Skills: Knowledge of computers, cycling, and having adequate means of livelihood are required.

4. Application Process

• Mode: Online only at https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement.

• Application Fee: Rs. 100. However, all female applicants, SC/ST, PwBD, and Transwomen are exempted from paying the fee.

• Documents Required: Recent photograph (30-100 KB) and signature (20-100 KB) in JPG/JPEG format.

5. Selection Method

• Selection is based on a system-generated merit list.

• The merit list is prepared strictly based on the marks obtained in the 10th standard examination, aggregated to a percentage with 4 decimal accuracy.

• There is no written examination for this recruitment.

6. Brief Job Profiles

• BPM: Responsible for daily postal operations, IPPB transactions, and overall management of the Branch Post Office.

• ABPM: Handles sale of stamps, doorstep mail delivery, and assists the BPM.

• Dak Sevak: Engaged in departmental offices/Railway Mail Services for mail sorting, handling, and delivery.
